We are always looking for dedicated volunteers in the following areas:
*All tutor/mentors will be responsible for promoting a positive outlook by embedding mindfulness techniques.*

Academic Tutoring
Provide 1:1 sessions assisting with homework, extra instruction, practice with academic subjects or assisting students in areas of executive functioning skills.

Essay Writing Workshop
Provide 1:1 sessions assisting students to learn or build upon their skills/strategies to the essay writing process; types of essays; understand a rubric; steps to the writing process; use of graphic organizers; researching and note taking, and more.

Executive Functioning Tutoring
Provide small group (same grade level) instruction in areas of time management, organization, memory strategies, study techniques, note-taking, and more.

ReadUP* Literacy Tutoring
Provide 1:1 help for students to improve reading skills; focusing on phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills.

Pathways to Your Future Mentor
Provide small/large group mentoring in areas of strategies in transitioning to post-secondary opportunities including college, university, apprenticeship and the workplace. This program is already designed and facilitator led. You will assist as a mentor to group.

YOUnique Club Group Mentor
This program helps students to engage through small/large group fun weekly activities and open discussions. Discussions include self-esteem, building growth mindset, healthy relationships/friendships and stress. This program is already designed and facilitator led. You will assist as a mentor to group.

Summer Camp Counsellors
Provide assistance to the Camp Facilitator delivery of camp days, material and activities. You will also oversee small groups as a camp mentor and assist them with fun projects, task completion, field trip outings and more.

Board of Directors Volunteer
Board Directors share responsibility with the entire board as the leadership body for the organization. Directors are responsible for governing the affairs of LDA-LR within the framework of relevant legislation and standards. The Board sets LDA’s mission and is responsible for its stability (financial, programs and services, CEO’s activity) as well as strong linkages within the community which support its mission.

Fundraising Events Volunteer
Volunteers support the staff team and Fund Development Committee with promotions/marketing, solicitation of sponsorships, prizes and other items, as well as planning and event day set-up. Strong skills in planning, event execution and creativity are essential.

Office Assistant
Volunteers offer support to staff team with tasks such as organization, typing, data entry, photocopying, filing and other tasks as needed on specific projects.
